Having a hangover can put you off alcohol for life!! Or at least, that’s how it feels at the time. The swishing of your stomach and the feeling of hammers banging at your head is not an experience you want to repeat too frequently. But how do i get rid of a hangover?

That one last drink before I go home, that seemed a better option than going home to bed, you will rue the following day!! When your stomachs turning over at the thought of food and even your eyeballs seem painful. It’s time to put the sunglasses on, even if it’s dark outside and mid-winter. And find the ice pack to quell the pain.

One of the best ways to have not such a bad hangover is to try to drink water as well as alcohol during the evening. This can go a long way to helping you feel better than had you not done this. Having a drink of water when you arrive home is also a good idea.

If you did not eat properly prior to drinking then the hang over you get will be considerably worse, so make sure you eat a proper meal first. Once you get up in the morning, try drinking a sports drink, which will balance body salts and electrolytes in the body.

A bacon sandwich and a fruit juice will help to settle your stomach and balance salts in the body. The fruit flavoured energy drinks are a good thing to take as they contain the same electrolyte balance as your blood and will help you feel better more quickly.

Alternatively nibble crackers or plain toast to help settle your stomach and raise your blood sugar level. Eating foods that contain fructose, like fruit, will help the alcohol disperse more quickly from your system.

Fluid consumption needs to be maintained throughout the day to prevent dehydration, particularly if you have been sick.` `

Do not take painkillers immediately on getting home after a night out, instead sleep it off and take them first thing in the morning. It is never wise to mix alcohol with medicine.
